Management Information Systems

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Management Information Systems is responsible for the development, acquisition, maintenance and repair of all components of P-MIP’s computer and communications networks. It also provides computer training and assistance to all network users.

PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

Accomplishments include: 1) continued support and optimization of a reliable, low maintenance, fast and secure computer network; 2) assisting Realty, Public Involvement and Cultural Resources with the acquisition of land ownership data and preparation of numerous informational and right-of-way mailings; 3) setting up the computer network at the Huhugam Heritage Center and assisting with its migration from the P-MIP to the GRIC network; 4) acquiring Microsoft licenses for the latest versions of Windows and Office; and 5) setting up common-area workstations for document scanning, photo-editing and CD burning.
FISCAL YEAR 2007 OBJECTIVES:

  • Upgrade all servers to Windows Server 2003
  • Upgrade P-MIP’s E-mail server to Exchange Server 2003
  • Upgrade P-MIP’s few remaining Windows NT workstations to Windows XP or 2000
  • Upgrade our suite of virus/spyware/spam protection software to the latest version
  • Maintain and improve network functionality and meet all users’ needs using only existing equipment (no new purchases)
  • Rearrange P-MIP’s network data storage to increase capacity and efficiency
  • Accommodate the MIS needs of Gila River Indian Irrigation and Drainage District
  • Improve regularity and longevity of our data backups
  • Increase remote access functionality for staff to work from off-site
  • Dispose of broken and obsolete computer equipment via Property and Supply
  • Continue providing support and assistance with computers, printers, software programs, Internet and network connectivity, E-mail, website hosting, database maintenance, presentation equipment, telephones, voicemail, copiers and fax machines
